A fresh Windows 11 install on an HP 240 G8 (11th-gen i3) and similar HP models often comes up with NO working drivers β no Wi-Fi, no sound, no proper graphics, no camera β because the in-box Windows image doesn't include HP's driver pack. Fix it in this order.
1. Get online first: plug in an Ethernet cable, or tether via a phone over USB (Wi-Fi won't work yet).
2. Run Windows Update fully, including Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options > Optional updates > Driver updates.
3. Install HP Support Assistant (download from hp.com/support on another device to a USB stick if you have no network) and let it fetch all drivers for your exact model.
4. Or use the HP driver pack / HP Cloud Recovery. Install in order: Chipset β Intel Management Engine (MEI) β Serial IO β Graphics (Intel) β Wi-Fi/Bluetooth β Audio (Realtek).
5. In Device Manager, resolve any remaining yellow-mark 'unknown devices'.
6. Reboot and confirm Device Manager has no warnings.
Stuck without any way to get online, or a device still won't install? Raise a ticket with the model and which devices show a yellow mark.
