Excel / Microsoft Office shows "Unlicensed Product" or will not open
Software · 1 views
Seeing "Unlicensed Product", "Product Activation Failed", or Excel refuses to open? Try this:
1. Check your sign-in. Open any Office app > File > Account. You should be signed in with your work account. If it shows "Sign in" — sign in with your Iksula email and password, then restart the app. This fixes most activation banners.
2. Restart the app and the laptop. Activation often completes on a fresh start with internet connected.
3. Check the date and time. A wrong system clock breaks activation. Right-click the taskbar clock > Adjust date/time > turn ON "Set time automatically".
4. Excel opens but files do not: try opening Excel first, then File > Open, rather than double-clicking the file. If a specific file is the problem, it may be corrupt — check if a colleague can open it.
5. Still unlicensed? Your seat may have lapsed. Raise a ticket titled "Office activation — <your asset tag>" or use Service Catalog > "MS Office / Excel License". We will assign a licence and remotely activate. Include a screenshot of the exact error banner.
Tip: do NOT download Office installers from random websites — the official copy comes only from IT or office.com signed in with your work account.
Still stuck? Email [email protected] or raise a ticket from the Help Center — include your asset tag (sticker on the laptop) and a screenshot if possible.
