Keyboard, touchpad and backlight not working (dead or wrong keys)

Use this when keys don't respond, type the wrong symbol, the backlight is off, or the touchpad stops working.
1. Restart and test in a blank Notepad document.
2. Dead keys: clean with compressed air; test a USB keyboard (if USB works, the built-in one is faulty).
3. Wrong characters (@ comes out as ", ? and $ swapped) = keyboard LAYOUT mismatch. Set English (US) or English (India); press Windows+Space to switch.
4. Backlight: press the backlight key (often Fn + F5 or Fn + Space); may auto-off on battery.
5. Touchpad: press the touchpad toggle key; Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Touchpad = On; update the driver.
If a USB keyboard/mouse works but the built-in one doesn't after these steps, raise a ticket.
