Set up your Incom Enterprise (DreamHost) email in Outlook

Accounts & Email · 2 views · 🧭 Guided walkthrough

Incom mailboxes are on DreamHost, so Outlook can't set them up automatically β€” you'll enter the servers by hand. It only takes a couple of minutes. Follow the step for the Outlook you have.

Incom Enterprise mailboxes are hosted on DreamHost, so Outlook cannot auto-discover them β€” you enter the server settings manually. Reference: help.dreamhost.com "Email client configuration overview".

THE SETTINGS (used everywhere below)
β€’ Incoming mail (IMAP): imap.dreamhost.com, port 993, encryption SSL/TLS
β€’ Outgoing mail (SMTP): smtp.dreamhost.com, port 465, encryption SSL/TLS (if your network blocks 465, use 587 with STARTTLS)
β€’ Username: your FULL email address (e.g. [email protected]) β€” not just the part before @
β€’ Password: your mailbox password (from IT, or reset via a ticket)
β€’ SMTP requires authentication with the same username and password.

NEW OUTLOOK (Windows 11 default)
1. Settings (gear) > Accounts > Email accounts > Add account.
2. Type the full email address > Continue. When auto-detect fails, choose "IMAP".
3. Enter the password, click "Show more" to reveal server fields, fill the settings above (IMAP 993 SSL, SMTP 465 SSL) > Continue.

CLASSIC OUTLOOK (Microsoft 365 desktop)
1. File > Add Account > type the full address > Advanced options > tick "Let me set up my account manually" > Connect.
2. Choose IMAP.
3. Incoming: imap.dreamhost.com, 993, SSL/TLS. Outgoing: smtp.dreamhost.com, 465, SSL/TLS.
4. Enter the mailbox password > Connect. If sending errors, Account Settings > Change > More Settings > Outgoing Server > tick "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication".

PHONE (Outlook mobile app)
Settings > Add Mail Account > Add Email Account > type your address; if it can't detect, choose IMAP and enter the same servers/ports.

IF IT WON'T CONNECT
β€’ "Password incorrect": use the FULL email as the username; reset the mailbox password via a ticket if unsure.
β€’ Receives but won't send: your network may block port 465 β€” switch SMTP to 587 with STARTTLS and ensure "SMTP requires authentication" is on.
